Biography
Mr. Villanueva graduated Magna Cum Laude with a BA in Political Science and a Minor in Economics from Emory University in 2000. Mr. Villanueva then attended Syracuse University College of Law where he obtained both his Juris Doctor in Law and his Masters in Economics in 2003. Mr. Villanueva was a former judicial clerk to the Cook County Circuit Court in Chicago, Illinois. Prior to opening his law practice, Mr. Villanueva worked for a mid-sized law firm in Atlanta, Georgia handling personal injury, civil litigation, bankruptcy, divorce/family and real estate.
Mr. Villanueva is a disabled combat veteran and served in Afghanistan, Europe, Africa, the Middle East and Korea in support of Operation Inherent Resolve (Middle East), Ulchi-Freedom Guardian (Korea) and Operation Resolute Support (Afghanistan) respectively. He sustained service related injuries after his second tour in Afghanistan. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Navy and Marine Achievement Medal, Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal (2), Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Joint Service Commendation Medal (2), NATO Medal (2), and the Expert Pistol and Marksman Rifle Medals. Mr. Villanueva currently is a Lieutenant Commander in the US Navy Reserve where he is currently assigned to Navy Reserve Defense Contract Management Agency.
Aside from practicing law, Mr. Villanueva is heavily involved with supporting our military veterans through his involvement with the American Legion, the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Wounded Warrior Project as well as supporting Atlanta's homeless and local animal shelters. When his busy schedule allows, Mr. Villanueva enjoys sampling different ethnic cuisines, listening to live music, watching sports and traveling.
